Rage of the Gladiator - NL review

Rage of the Gladiator is the kind of WiiWare game we'd like to see more often, with excellent control, great design and bags of fun. All three control schemes are perfectly usable and whilst we're sure there are many traditionalists who will stick to the digital controls, we highly rate the MotionPlus implementation which features one-time calibration (no pointer clicking required between matches) and a pretty good workout besides. There's clearly been a lot of care put into this game; not only in making sure it plays well, but in making the characters come to life in a fashion that encourages replays just to experience them again.

Blaster Master - NintendoLife review 9/10

The unique blend of platforming and shooting, not to mention two different perspectives, give Blaster Master: Overdrive everything fans of original game could possibly want. Toss in some amazing gameplay tweaks and give the game a smoother difficulty curve and what you have is easily one of the best WiiWare games on the service and a fitting update to one of the all-time NES classics. If you can appreciate a truly unique and engaging retro gaming experience, not to mention what is one of the best games available on WiiWare, look no further because you've just found it.

Bit.Trip Runner - IGN preview

This is the most challenging Bit.Trip, yet. It's all about timing and memorizing the layout of each stage. If you get tripped up you have to go all the way back to the beginning of the stage -- there are no checkpoints. Luckily, the layouts are set in stone, as opposed to the randomly generated levels of Canabalt. Levels are fairly short and you can keep trying as many times as it takes.

Max & the Magic Marker - review

Max & the Magic Marker has slick presentation for a WiiWare title. The graphics are really appealing, mixing cel shaded characters with a soft, painted look. Although for some reason the frame rate tends to stutter at the strangest moments. It won't drop enough to affect your pen, but the slowdown is noticeable. Another nice touch is when you pause the game, the graphics will instantly shift to crude drawings – just like something out of a kid's sketchbook!

Bit Trip VOID - review

Bit.Trip Void's unique void mechanic and risk-versus-reward system puts a refreshing spin on the bullet-hell genre. Though you're still unable to share your high scores with your friends through online leaderboards, Void surpasses its predecessors in terms of fun and addictiveness. If you're looking for an exciting, fair, and accessible challenge on the Wii, you should definitely let yourself get sucked into the Bit.Trip Void.

Bit Trip VOID - IGN review

9.0 Presentation
From the menu screen to the backgrounds, Bit.Trip Void has style to spare.
8.0 Graphics
Void manages to make the blocky images of the Atari 2600 look hip and modern.
8.5 Sound
Groovy 8-bit bleeps and bloops that will get your toes tapping and head nodding. Even better when you realize you are contributing to the soundtrack.
8.0 Gameplay
Void gets a lot of mileage out of a simple premise. This is one of those games you'll be playing over and over again, striving for perfection.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
The two-player cooperative mode is kind of an after thought, and the lack of online leaderboards is disappointing.
8.0
Impressive OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Excitebike: World Rally - NL review

With more tracks, more bonus features and more strategic racing challenges, Excitebike: World Rally is a racing game that will keep you challenged with its ever-increasing difficulty and entertained with its track editor and online play. Not only does this remake vastly improve on its original formula, but also it provides a more polished and enjoyable racing experience than any other game currently available on the Wiiware service. Graphical enhancements aside, this is the full game that Excitebike always should have been. It not only leaves other Wiiware racers in the dust, but also wiped out on the side of the road.

Excitebike: World Rally - IGN na prvi pogled

"World Rally" refers to the different locations in the Wii game: you'll race in Japan, Mexico, London, and the US, but all it really does is change up the background visuals. The structure is very similar to what Monster Games did in Excitebots and Excitetruck before it: there are multiple circuits, and you earn a rank based on how you perform in a specific course: earn an A or B rank and you'll move on, but hit the C rank and you'll have to try again. Like the previous two Excite racers on Wii, Excitebike: World Rally also has an S rank to shoot for, and you can bet that the effect an S rank has in the other games will apply to Excitebike…

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias - NL review

...the difficulty has been upped slightly and the game is quite a bit longer, taking about four hours to complete in its entirety. Frontier also kept in mind the saying that if something works, you shouldn't mess with it: the core gameplay is completely untouched, it's just been greatly refined. As such, if you liked the first game, you'll like this one even more. All the hype for it was completely justified.
