The game operates as a mishmash of genres in a similar fashion to the likes of Enter The Matrix, however here they are delivered with precision and continuity that previous titles simply haven’t achieved. Each Level takes place as a Scene, and each is regularly Checkpointed. Reflecting the well designed systems of the likes of Prince of Persia: Sand of Time and Fable II, Disaster: Day of Crisis is constructed in such a manner that most will be able to continue their progression after only one or two retries. Upon death, a Scene Selection Menu appears that is strikingly similar in effect to that of Alone in the Dark’s Chapter Selection feature, yet, for some reason, neither Monolith Soft nor Nintendo had previously cared to mention this.
